Meet an RMM Student: Karen

Uncategorized

This post is part of a series of interviews of RMM (Recreational Music Making) students.ย  Karen began learning piano using the RMM approach in January 2010.

What made you decide to start taking piano at this point in your life?
I love music and I’ve always wanted to play the piano, but never found the time to learn. After watching my 8 year old niece play the piano during a Christmas visit, I knew it was time for me to start learning, no matter how long it took.

How did you feel before you began?
Very nervous and anxious to learn.

What has surprised you about learning piano?
It was easier to learn than I thought.

What is the best part about learning piano?
Being able to actually play all the songs in my book and realizing my dream had come true.

What is the hardest part about learning piano?
Getting rid of my fears and apprehensions I had of being too old to learn.

How has music made your life better?
I love listening to music and now being able to play music gives me the time to relax and enjoy it to the fullest. Also, being able to play the piano with my niece this year was a very proud and rewarding moment for me.
